Some sessions stay with you long after you pack up your camera—and this one absolutely did.
This holiday season, I had the honor of photographing a remarkable family celebrating their first Christmas as a family of four—mom, dad, their sweet new baby, and their loyal 15-year-old doggie who has clearly been the heart of the home for a long time. Stepping into their space for an in-home holiday session felt intimate and meaningful. This wasn’t about staged perfection—it was about capturing real life, real love, and the tenderness of a family settling into a new chapter together.
A New Creative Undertaking
Doing a newborn-at-home session was a new and exciting undertaking for me, and I’m deeply grateful I was trusted with such precious moments. There’s a softness that comes through when families are in their own environment—wrapped in comfort, moving at their own rhythm, surrounded by the story they’re building.
And let’s be honest… when you’re photographing a new baby AND a 15-year-old pup, taking a lot of pictures is a must. Getting everyone looking the same direction at the same time? Let’s just say it’s equal parts patience, timing, and comedy. And when it all comes together, it’s pure magic.
Why In-Home Sessions Mean So Much
Home tells a story that a studio simply can’t. The nursery details. The quiet corners. The familiar light coming through windows they see every day.
There’s a comfort here—especially with a newborn—that allows parents and pets alike to settle in and simply be. Those natural, unscripted moments are often the ones families treasure most.
Deep Gratitude
To this beautiful family: thank you for inviting me into your home, for trusting me with your holiday memories, and for allowing me to capture the joy, tenderness, and humor of this season of life. It was truly a gift.
If you’re considering an in-home holiday session, planning photos with your own new baby, or wanting to capture your family (fur babies included), I’d love to help you preserve your moments with warmth, intention, and heart.
